MPM method

The MPM method makes it possible to evaluate the duration of realization of a complex project and to detect the parts of this project not bearing any delay. The task information is summarized in a schedule.

Unlike the PERT method, the vertices of the MPM method are tasks to be accomplished. We can « consider » that the edges of the PERT method become vertices to the MPM method (similarly for vertices become edges).

The main differences with the PERT method are:

  • the representation of anterior relations of a task sharing with others some of its antecedents does not require the use of fictitious links
  • each arc is associated with a numerical value representing either a duration of operation or a delay.

The graph MPM is built like the graph PERT, the calculation of the margins is identical. Here is the schedule:
